How to provide a foreign account number to the tax office
10.05.2019Do you want to provide the tax number of your foreign account? There may be several reasons for this:
- You received a letter from the tax office as you are entitled to a tax refund. In the letter, you are asked to indicate the account number to which they can pay money.
- Your account number has changed and you want to enter a new one, for example, for an income tax refund.
The tax notification procedure is quite simple, there are only minor differences for individuals and entrepreneurs.
For individuals:
If you are an individual you need to send a tax letter with the following information:
- Your name
- Your address, postal code, city and country
- Your NL Registration Number (BSN)
- The name of the subsidy or tax for which you provide this account number
- The actual new account number
- BIC code of your bank. If your bank does not have a BIC, just provide the full foreign account number (including bank codes).
- In what name is the account opened. This is your name as it appears on the bank.
- Country of your bank
- Your signature
If you are providing this account number for benefits or income tax and health insurance law contributions, please also attach copies of:
- valid identity card (passport, ID card, residence permit)
- Bank statement or digital bank statement (showing your name and account number) or confirmation from your bank of your request to open this account (maximum two months ago).
The letter must be sent to the address:
Belastingdienst / Centrale administratieve processen
Unit Registrar
Postbus 9055 7300
GT Apeldoorn
Pay attention!
It will take some time to process your request. Therefore, if you want the tax authorities to immediately stop using your old account number, please indicate this in the letter. And additionally inform about it by phone to the tax office for foreigners. Then they can organize it.
