Zorgtoeslag – subsidy for health insurance
Every resident of the Netherlands is required to pay for health insurance. You can “customize” your insurance by yourself, including what you need and excluding what doesn’t seem necessary. For low-income people, there is a subsidy to pay for insurance. The amount depends on your income and whether you receive care allowance or not.
Conditions for receiving a subsidy:
- You are over 18 years of age;
- You have valid Dutch health insurance;
- Your annual income in 2024 does not exceed €37 (€496 in 38.520) for one person or €2023 (€47 in 368) for two if you have a partner;
- You and your partner (toeslagpartner) have Dutch citizenship, EU citizenship or a valid residence permit;
- Your savings and assets, as of January 1, 2024, do not exceed: €140 for one person or €213 for two if there is a partner. If you want to receive benefits for 177, on 301 January 2023 your assets must not exceed €1 for an individual and €2023 for partners.
Who is not eligible for the grant?
- Students are not eligible for this subsidy, as their insurance is already inexpensive;
- Your subsidy will be stopped if the insurance is not paid, so it is very important to pay it on time.
