Photo requirements: visa to the Netherlands, Dutch residence permit, passport and driving license
Agree, it is unpleasant to hear that your application for a visa, residence permit or passport cannot be accepted just because your photo does not meet the requirements. Don't panic: we will give you full information about the requirements for the pictures so that you do not have to go to the photographer twice.
The requirements for obtaining short-term, long-term visas to the Netherlands, as well as an MVV visa, residence permit card and a Dutch passport are the same. We recommend that you print the requirements below and show them to the photographer if you are applying outside the Netherlands.
General requirements
- The size of the picture is 35 mm x 45 mm.
- The distance from ear to ear is 16 mm to 20 mm. From chin to crown: from 11 years old - minimum 26 mm and maximum 30 mm, up to 10 years - minimum 19 mm and maximum 30 mm.
- Full center of bare face. It is desirable that the ears be visible, but if the face is completely visible, but the ears are not visible, then this is permissible.
- Head tilt is not allowed: the person in the picture must look forward, the facial expression is neutral, the mouth is closed.
- The photo must be in color.
- At the time of application, the photo cannot be more than 6 months old.
- Damage, scuffs, photoshop are not allowed.
- The background is white.
- The photograph must be clear and printed on high quality smooth paper.
- Earrings, piercings and tattoos in the photo are perfectly acceptable.
Photo with glasses:
- If you constantly wear glasses, then they are acceptable in the picture. The photo should not have glare and shadows, the eyes should be fully visible.
Children under 6 years old:
- If you are holding a child in your arms for a photo, then your hands should not be in the frame.
- Mouth closed, eyes in line, no smile.
Exceptions:
- If, for religious or ideological reasons, you cannot leave your head uncovered, then you are allowed to cover it. The headgear should be monochromatic, contrasting with the background.
