What does a pension in the Netherlands consist of?

A pension in the Netherlands consists of 3 different parts:

Part 1: Standard Pension-AOW

This is an automatic pension that is applicable to any resident of the Netherlands, regardless of whether the person was employed or not. Pension-AOW depends on how many people have lived in the Netherlands. For each year of residence, you will receive 2% of the 100% pension.

Didn't have time to save 100%? The missing years can be bought.

Or just get paid if you are poor.

Part 2: Additional pension

These are the pension accruals that the employer makes.

It is important to know that not all businesses are required to make these charges. Want to see how much your employer's pension has accumulated? Check this information on the website: www.mijnpensioenoverzicht.nl

Part 3: Self-Savings

Pension fund, other funds and other ways.

Self-savings can be divided into 2 parts: savings exempt from income tax and savings after all taxes have been paid.
