Salary Requirements for Kennis Migrants in 2023

As the end of the year approaches, Nalog.nl professionals are increasingly being asked about the wage thresholds for highly skilled migrants in 2023. Although preliminary figures appeared some time ago, we decided to wait for information in official sources. And now, referring to Government newspaper of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (Staatscourant van het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden), we give you the answers you've been waiting for.

To be able to work in the Netherlands as a highly skilled migrant, you must meet certain criteria, including education and salary. The minimum monthly gross salary for kennismigrants (highly skilled migrant) is indexed annually. 

From January 1, 2023, the amounts will increase by 3,47% compared to the previous year. Wherein:

• monthly gross salary must be fixed, guaranteed and paid directly to the bank account of a foreign citizen;
• Amounts shown do not include holiday pay.

Changes for 2023

The relevant changes to the salary thresholds for kennis migrants are contained in the Communication of the Minister of Social Affairs and Employment of November 22, 2022, No. 2022-0000229116, on changes in amounts from January 1, 2023 in a number of laws, decrees and regulations (published on November 30, 2022) . We are directly talking about changes to the Decree on the Enactment of the Law on the Employment of Foreigners 2022 (Besluit uitvoering Wet arbeid vreemdelingen).
