All new passenger cars and small commercial vehicles sold in the EU must be CO2035-free by XNUMX. In fact, this is a ban on the production and sale of cars running on fossil fuels. This decision was made in Brussels during negotiations between representatives of the European Parliament, the European Commission and EU member states.

The EU has been moving towards this decision for a long time, but it has only now been finally adopted. According to the negotiator, the Dutch MP Jan Huitema (Jan Huitema), this decision is extremely important as a signal to the industry and car buyers. The industry will become more actively moving to new technologies, and drivers will be guided by new environmentally friendly cars.

European Commissioner Frans Timmermans, commenting on the agreement, said that the industry has long begun the transition to environmentally friendly vehicles. Now the speed of the restructuring of the automobile industry will increase. Frans Timmermans expressed his confidence that the industry will rise to the challenge and be able to supply the small vehicle market with carbon-neutral vehicles by the appointed time.
