Typically, fines for motorists increase annually according to the level of inflation, but this year the Dutch government went further and, in addition to the standard indexation to the inflation rate (5,7%), added another 4,3%. In total, on average, fines will increase by 10%, and for some violations they will increase even more. In particular, improper use of a mobile phone in a car will cost the driver 40 euros more than last year (+10,5%), and for occupying a parking space for disabled people you will have to pay 40% more than a year earlier.

Important! Those fined should be aware that, regardless of the amount of the fine, they will have to pay an additional 9 euros for administrative costs.
