Minister of Economy Mickey Adriaansens drew a line under the parliamentary debate on the consequences of the war in Ukraine and sanctions against Russia for the Dutch business. Companies in the Netherlands will not receive any additional assistance from the state yet.
“At the moment there is no reason to provide additional support”, - said Mickey Adriansense as part of her speech in the House of Representatives. The action plan that was drawn up at the very beginning of the crisis has not yet been exhausted.
Anti-crisis measures
The Dutch government is looking at what other countries are doing. In particular, France and Germany have announced additional measures to support businesses. However, most other EU countries are taking the same steps as the Netherlands, for example, reduce excise duties. According to the minister, if the situation worsens, the GO scheme (GO-regeling) or other similar tools can be used.
Monitoring and rapid response
Mickey Adriansens promised that in the event of a significant change in the situation, the government's business support policy would be promptly adjusted. The government is in constant dialogue with the employers' organizations VNO-NCW and MKB Nederland. Also, the analysis of the situation in all sectors of the economy does not stop in order to identify which ones suffered the most and what exactly the problems are.
Along with this, representatives of the Christian Democratic Party (CDA) in Parliament insist that state support for business should be provided without delay. Member of the CDA faction Mustafa Amhaouch recalled that the European Commission softened the rules for providing state aid to businesses on March 23. This allows EU Member States to provide support in situations where this would normally be prohibited.
