In Rotterdam, Amsterdam, The Hague and Utrecht, as a temporary measure to protect Ukrainian refugees, a decision was made not to apply fines for illegal parking. In Rotterdam, automatic machines fixing violations are set to ignore Ukrainian license plates. This is a temporary measure that makes life easier for people already affected by the war.

Ukrainians are allocated free parking spaces

In Rotterdam, most of the Ukrainian refugees who arrived by car are accommodated in a gym in the southern part of the city. Free parking is available for them at the nearby Beverwaard car park. In the P and R zones of this car park, located on the roof of the tram depot, you can park your car for free.

In Amsterdam, free places for Ukrainian refugees are provided in 11 parking lots. Fines are not applied to cars with Ukrainian numbers parked on the street. This decision will be valid until May 1 and may be extended.

In The Hague, free parking spaces for Ukrainians are allocated in the parking lot of the football club ADO Den Haag. When parking on the street, fines for cars from Ukraine are not yet applied. This measure is temporary: the city administration expects Ukrainians to learn to follow the rules. You should know that outside the center of The Hague, parking on the street is free, and most of the offices that refugees have to visit have free parking spaces.

In Utrecht, the police turn a blind eye to illegally parked Ukrainian cars. Fines to their owners will not apply until at least May 1. It is possible that this decision will be extended.

The abolition of fines does not mean that you can park everywhere

If a Ukrainian car is parked in a dangerous place or interferes with motorists or pedestrians, it will be evacuated. During March-April, 6 such vehicles were evacuated in Amsterdam. Do not park under No Parking or Stopping signs, on sidewalks or in handicapped parking spaces. So far, the evacuated cars of Ukrainian refugees in large cities of the Netherlands are being returned to them free of charge, but this rule is valid until May 1. In the future, the period of exemption from penalties may be extended.
