“Events surrounding Covid-19 have proven that a healthy lifestyle is vital. Health problems such as excess weight and diabetes can be solved through lifestyle changes,” says the Second Chamber of Parliament.
General tax law professor Redmar Wolf wrote a memorandum arguing for a reduction in VAT on fruits and vegetables. “At the checkout, cheap often outsells healthy,” he writes. “Targeting a low rate of VAT on fruit and vegetables could help change these misguided choices.”
