And a little more about the changes in 2020: the amount of insurance premiums for the next year has become known. Manzis is the first major insurance company to announce its premiums for next year. Basic insurance will become 1 euro more expensive here (123 euro).
The Cabinet of Ministers announced an increase in the amount of insurance premiums by about 3 euros, to an average of 118,50 euros per month in Prinsjesdag. However, this was only a general guideline, an estimate based on health care costs. The insurers themselves determine the final premiums.
Insurance company CZ will reduce the premium for basic insurance by 3,85 euros to 120,95 euros. At Zilveren Kruis, the premium for the most frequently chosen basic insurance policy will be reduced by € 1,50 to € 125,45.
The insurance premium for naturaverzekering VGZ next year will be 119,95 per month. This is 1 euro less than this year. The same is true for Univé's naturaverzekering. As a reminder, naturaverzekering is an option where the insurance pays directly for your medical expenses.
However, despite the fact that many large companies are cutting the price of basic insurance, the collective discount in 2020 will be reduced from 10 percent to 5 percent. Secretary Bruins spoke about this in 2019. And this reduction in the discount means that, in practice, health care costs for many people in 2020 will be higher than in the current 2019.
This primarily applies to the four largest health insurance companies that offer group discounts: Zilveren Kruis, VGZ, CZ and Menzis. According to the consumer association, about two-thirds of people are collectively insured, for example through their employer.
According to Menzis, they should expect prices to rise by more than € 1 per month. According to VGZ, which has reduced the contribution by one euro, the lower contribution somewhat offset the lower group discount.
CZ has cut the premium by 3,85 euros and explains this by the fact that the group discount has been cut in half. According to the insurer, for some groups of policyholders, this leads to an increase in the net premium (insurance premium, taking into account various discounts).
In addition to the actual insurance premiums that are paid by residents of the IP, there is also the so-called personal risk - the amount that a person in any case pays himself before the insurance begins to reimburse the costs. It became known that the amount of this personal risk does not increase in 2020 and remains 385 euros.
At the same time, the health benefit for low-income people will increase. The allowance will be increased for one person by 67 euros per year, and for families by 95 euros per year.
If you decide to change your insurance company or type of insurance, you need to cancel your health insurance by December 31st. After which you have one more month to apply for a new health insurance policy.
