There are certain requirements for obtaining a visa or residence permit in an IP, including salary. They may vary slightly from year to year. Here we present the figures that are relevant for the period from January 1 to June 30, 2019.

Throughout the article, we are talking about the so-called sv-loon, which means that the salary that is taken into account is taxable income. That is, if you have 30% roll, then this is the remaining 70%. At the same time, reimbursement of the road, phone, kindergarten, etc. is not from the account, as well as free internships.

All of the following applies to citizens or residents of the Netherlands who invite someone, for residents and citizens of other EU countries living in the Netherlands, the rules are slightly different.

Visitor visas

In order to be a guarantor when drawing up an invitation for a regular visitor visa (short-term), your salary must be at least:

€ 1.615,80 sv-loon * excluding vacation pay per month
€ 1.745,07 sv-loon * including vacation pay per month

Family visas

For living with a partner:
€ 1.615,80 sv-loon * excluding vacation pay per month
€ 1.745,07 sv-loon * including vacation pay per month
For living with another family member (in this case, this is only the situation when a minor child arrives to one of the parents):
If the sponsor is in an official marriage or registered partnership or civil marriage:
€ 1.615,80 sv-loon * excluding vacation pay per month
€ 1.745,07 sv-loon * including vacation pay per month
If the sponsor is a single / unmarried or single parent:
€ 1.131,06 sv-loon * excluding vacation pay per month
€ 1.221,54 sv-loon * including vacation pay per month

Student visas

Here we are not talking about the salary, but about the amount of money in the account that must be shown. It depends on the type of educational institution where you are going to study and the time that the training will last (usually a year, because the visa is issued for a year, and at the next registration you will again have to show that you have money in the account). It is believed that it is on this amount that you will live while you study, because officially working during your studies is allowed only 10 hours a week and getting a job is not so easy. The numbers here are:

€ 882,47 per month for higher professional (HBO) or university education.
€ 724,68 per month for secondary or secondary vocational education (MBO).

If a resident of the Netherlands sponsors a student, his education and residence in the country, his salary must be:

The student is going to pursue higher professional (HBO) or university education.
If the sponsor is in an official marriage or registered partnership or civil marriage:
€ 2.498,27 sv-loon excluding vacation pay per month
€ 2.627,54 sv-loon including vacation pay per month
If the sponsor is a single / unmarried or single parent:
€ 2.013,53 sv-loon excluding vacation pay per month
€ 2.104,01 sv-loon including vacation pay per month
The student is going to receive secondary or secondary vocational education (MBO).
In this case, the sponsor is in an official marriage or a registered partnership or civil marriage:
€ 2.340,48 sv-loon excluding vacation pay per month
€ 2.469,75 sv-loon including vacation pay per month
If the sponsor is a single / unmarried or single parent:
€ 1.855,74 sv-loon excluding vacation pay per month
€ 1.946,22 sv-loon including vacation pay per month

Highly qualified specialist visas

Salary requirements for 2019
Professionals 30 years and older must receive € 4.500 gross per month
Professionals under 30 must receive € 3.299 gross per month
Reduced specialist rate € 2.364 gross per month

In some cases, a highly qualified professional may receive a reduced rate. This is possible in the case when you studied in the Netherlands, after that you received a year to look for a job and a corresponding residence permit (zoekjaar). If, during this year, in your job search or immediately after it, you found a job as a highly qualified specialist, the requirements for your salary will be slightly lower.

The same salary scale applies to a specialist as long as he continues to work with the same employer.
If the employer changes, the salary should be calculated in accordance with the age of the specialist. Except when a highly qualified specialist falls under the conditions of a reduced specialist rate.
