Belastingdienst mistakenly sent letters to working parents of young children saying they could not use their combined tax credit. The essence of the error is that letters about the inability to use Combined Income Related Tax Credit (Inkomensafhankelijke combinatiekorting - IACK) was received not only by those parents whose children were 12 years old on January 1, 2023, but also by those parents whose children were still 11 years old on that date. Naturally, these parents were scared, since the letter did not allow them to use the rebate on their 2023 tax return. Now Belastingdienst have found their mistake and even publicly admitted it. Tax mistakes happen quite often, but they are reluctant to admit them.
Taxpayers who receive an erroneous letter may be able to use the discount they are entitled to, and the letter from the tax authorities may be considered not received. Belastingdienst promise to send everyone a letter of apology.
We remind you that this is not the only tax discount that helps you save on payments to the budget. In addition to discounts, there is also a large list of tax deductions. To take all this into account correctly requires considerable experience, so we recommend order filing a tax return from specialists!
