The exemption of refugees from Ukraine under temporary EU protection from payment of transport tax (motorrijtuigenbelasting - mrb) and tax on cars and motorcycles (belasting van personenauto's en motorrijwielen - bpm) has been extended until March 4, 2025. The previous similar decision was valid until March 4, 2024.

Conditions for receiving benefits

To receive tax exemption, Ukrainians must have a temporary protection sticker and meet the following conditions:

  • Your vehicle must have Ukrainian registration,
  • You entered the Netherlands with this car or motorcycle.

What is needed to apply for tax exemption?

If you have already received such an exemption, it is automatically extended until March 4, 2025; you do not need to do anything.
