Dutch Railways (Nederlandse Spoorwegen - NS) has announced that it is changing the rules for receiving discounts on rideshare travel starting from 19 February 2024. What kind of discounts are these? How will you receive them now?
Codeshare discounts allow groups of up to three people to travel during off-peak hours, saving up to 40% on ticket prices. According to NS, abuses in the use of such discounts were the main cause of disputes with controllers. The company is not giving up this discount, but is changing the rules for providing it. As of February 19, those who decide to take advantage of this discount must receive a special code from the travel document holder. On the train, passengers traveling together must sit next to each other. From April 22, it will be possible to purchase tickets only through the NS website - until the last third of April, the rules for selling tickets remain the same, they can be purchased from vending machines.
