The state of the economy requires an increase in rents, but the government is committed to ensuring that the purchasing power of the population does not decrease. As part of the published budget memorandum, the Cabinet of Ministers found an original solution to this problem.

As part of the 2024 purchasing power package, it is proposed to increase rents by €34,67 per month and at the same time pass on this increase to the state by increasing the rental allowance budget.

To increase this budget, the method chosen is to reduce the base rent. To be able to reduce this fee, a separate law is required; currently the government does not have such powers. That is why it was proposed to parliament A bill to reduce personal contribution to rent. It is expected that the law will be approved in the near future and will come into force on January 1, 2024.
