In order for a foreigner to get a job in the Netherlands in their specialty, they must first pass a certification assessment of the diploma. Such an assessment makes it possible to understand with what level of education in the Netherlands a foreign diploma can be compared. Diplomas are evaluated by two organizations - SBB and Nuffic - through the website https://idw.nl.

Instructions for Ukrainians on the IDW website

On the IDW website (Internationale diplomawaardering - International certification assessment) contains a special brief instruction for Ukrainian refugees (in Ukrainian). It explains, how to request a free diploma assessment.

First you need to register with Mijn IDW (enter your email address and password). During the application process, in the “Step 2: About the Diploma Holder” section, answer the question “Why are you applying for Diploma Eligibility Assessment?”. If you are a refugee from Ukraine, check the box “I am a refugee from Ukraine and I am applying for a free diploma assessment”.

Note! On the Mijn IDW page, you can find detailed instructions on how to apply for a Diploma Eligibility Assessment, with screenshots of each step in Dutch and English.

What documents do you need?

  • a copy of the diploma to be assessed,
  • if available, a copy of the relevant lists of grades or a complete diploma supplement,
  • copy of passport, residence permit or identity card,
  • document translation: IDW accepts translations into Dutch, English, French or German. You can also upload your own translations (eg using Google Translate).
Important! When requesting an assessment of a master's degree you must also upload the corresponding bachelor's degree with a list of grades for it. If the university is not completed, you can evaluate learning for a period of one year or more: to do this, you need to upload grades for the last academic year.

How long does it take to process an application?

Now this period is maximum 4 months. This is longer than usual due to the large number of applications. The organization does not have enough employees to process them. The applications are processed in the order in which they are received.
