Children under the age of 16 should be banned from working in emergency deliveries Minister of Social Affairs and Employment Karien van Gennip is convinced that even more stringent approach to the work of children is required. She reported this in a letter to the Dutch Parliament.
Children under the age of 16 are no longer allowed to deliver food to customers. The reason is that with traffic jams and limited delivery times, children traveling on the roads on bicycles, e-bikes and other similar vehicles are at excessive risk. Karien van Genniep is convinced that any express delivery, not just food delivery, still carries this risk, and suggests that children be banned from working in the industry.
The proposals of the Minister of Social Protection are based on scientific research. It is also proposed to limit the time for children to work from 19:00 to 20:00. At the same time, the time for their rest should not decrease. The child should not work without the consent of the parents or guardians.
Requires the establishment of rules and the work of children on the Internet. Until these rules are in place, it is impossible to determine whether blogging is a job or a hobby. At the same time, some children make money on this, and parents who blog with a demonstration of their children also earn. Scientists believe that this is work, and with increased psychological stress. Feelings of influence, working off hours, and negative reactions from some blog readers can be detrimental to a child's psyche.
New information on this issue will be provided to the House of Representatives in the first half of 2024.
