Third-country nationals who arrived in the Netherlands in connection with the war in Ukraine are required to leave the EU. Those of them who registered in the Personal Data Base (BRP) before July 19, 2022 will be able to receive assistance from the Repatriation and Departure Service (DT&V). This organization will provide comprehensive assistance when returning home or traveling to other countries outside the EU.
The repatriation assistance program has been in effect since November 15, 2022. Foreigners arriving from Ukraine who apply to DT&V before December 31, 2022 will be able to receive financial assistance in the amount of 5000 euros for each person leaving.
Third-country nationals who lived in Ukraine on residence permits and arrived in the Netherlands in connection with the Russian attack are no longer subject to the EU Temporary Protection Directive of March 4, 2022. Most of them are obliged to leave the EU. The Dutch Repatriation and Exit Service is ready to provide extensive repatriation assistance to this group of foreigners. To receive assistance from DT&V, you must submit an application to this organization before February 1, 2023 - in this case, the Repatriation and Departure Service will provide information and advisory services on repatriation, a plane ticket to the country of destination and provide support for departure from Schiphol Airport.
Depending on the timing of the application and departure, departing foreigners will be able to receive financial assistance:
- Those who apply by December 31, 2022 inclusive - 5000 euros per person,
- Those who apply to DT&V from January 1 to February 1, 2023 - 2000 euros per person.
In both cases, in order to receive financial assistance, you must leave the Netherlands within 1 month from the date of application. Cash is transferred to foreigners before departure at Schiphol airport.
This assistance program applies only to those foreigners who, before arriving in the Netherlands, had a temporary residence permit in Ukraine.
Information on this subject in Dutch can be obtained from on the DT&V website.
