How can Ukrainian refugees reimburse the costs of obtaining a sticker?

The government portal of the Netherlands has published instructions on compensation for refugees from Ukraine. Municipalities (gemeente) can now compensate for the costs associated with a trip to obtain a sticker confirming that they are under temporary EU protection. The Dutch Immigration and Naturalization Service (Immigratie en Naturalisatiedienst - IND) began providing Ukrainian refugees with stickers from July 4, 2022. The receipt of the document takes place by appointment. Ukrainians can only get a sticker at one of the six IND pickup points, and they have to get to these points on their own. The rules for payment of emergency expenses make it possible to compensate the expenses of Ukrainian refugees for this trip from the budget of municipalities.

Travel expenses to and from the point of receipt of the sticker are paid by the municipality on the basis of the application submitted by the refugee. The application must be submitted to the municipality where you live. 

Municipalities are free to choose how to calculate the amount to be compensated: often a scheme is used in which 1 km of distance from the place of residence to the point of issue of IND documents and back is estimated at 0,19 euros. Counting schemes based on public transport fares may also apply.

Only those Ukrainian refugees who have not yet found a job have the right to compensation for travel to the IND.
