The Ministers of Foreign Trade and Defense of the Netherlands, Liesje Schreinemacher and Kajsa Ollongren, visited Kyiv and made a number of important statements. The statements were made after a visit to the Kyiv suburb of Irpin, catastrophically destroyed by the occupiers. The visit showed that the world community needs to think not only about supporting Ukraine in the war, but also about restoring the country after the victory.
Minister Schreinemacher announced that the Netherlands will allocate 65 million euros in assistance for the reconstruction of Ukraine, in particular by financing Dutch companies that are restoring Ukrainian infrastructure - bridges, dams and hospitals in the affected areas. An additional 10 million euros will be allocated for demining Ukrainian territories.
In addition, 1 million euros will be allocated to finance local reconstruction plans in the Kherson, Odessa and Mykolaiv regions. 2,5 million euros will be allocated to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to assist in the field of macroeconomic reforms.
The Netherlands has supported Ukraine since the beginning of the war. Arms and property worth 210 million euros were transferred to Ukraine at book value. 90 Dutch soldiers train Ukrainian soldiers in the UK. A group of Dutch forensic experts is working in Ukraine to document war crimes.
