All Turkish citizens and their family members, if they want to stay in the Netherlands for more than 90 days, must apply for a temporary residence permit (MVV). From October 1, 2022, residence permit applications (other than asylum) will be rejected if someone does not have a valid MVV. This adjustment is related to integration obligation for Turkish citizenswhich is effective from January 1, 2022. The decision will help prevent attempts to avoid integration, including learning Dutch, help reduce illegal migration and work. Previously, the Turks could not issue an MVV in accordance with the Turkey-EU integration agreement.
In our usual understanding, MVV is not a residence permit (residence permit), but a long-term visa that allows you to enter the Netherlands and apply for a full-fledged residence permit. An application for an MVV is now submitted simultaneously with an application for a residence permit. Having entered the Netherlands on MVV, you can go to the IND for a residence permit. Previously, these two procedures were separated. The MVV itself can be applied for by foreigners abroad or by their sponsors in the Netherlands.
