On June 29, 2022, a pilot project was launched to issue internal and foreign passports for Ukrainian citizens staying abroad. Its implementation is based on A decree Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 678 dated 10.06.2022/XNUMX/XNUMX.
The essence of innovation
Until recently, Ukrainians outside of Ukraine could only issue passports at diplomatic institutions (embassies and consulates). The turnaround time was several months.
From now on, the State Migration Service (SMS) of Ukraine plans to open separate subdivisions of the Document State Enterprise abroad, where Ukrainian citizens will be able to obtain both an internal passport (in the form of an ID card) and a foreign biometric passport.
The list of countries where documents for issuing passports will be accepted is still being developed SMS in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In general, the pilot project is designed for two years, and then for 6 months the Ministry of Internal Affairs must report to the Cabinet of Ministers on the results of the project.
Pilot project in Warsaw
The first country where Ukrainians will be issued passports was Poland. In early July in the Polish capital began accepting documents for passports.
Where to go?
- Address mobile complexes (specially equipped minibuses): Warszawa, al. Jerozolimskie 179, Blue City shopping center.
- Schedule: from Monday to Saturday, from 10:00 to 19:00.
- Service is carried out by prior appointment in an electronic queue.
What documents to take with you?
- To obtain a passport in case of loss, you must fill out an application form.
- In case of replacement, the old passport must be handed over.
- In the case of issuing a passport, a document (protocol, certificate) from the competent authorities of the state in which the document was stolen should be submitted instead of the stolen one.
When will the passports be ready?
Ukrainians will be able to receive the first documents in the first days of August - at this time, the opening of the center of the State Enterprise "Document" is planned. In general, the terms for issuing passports will be as follows:
- Urgent - up to 20 working days.
- Normally up to 45 business days.
How to pay for the service?
Payment will be made on the spot in mobile complexes using an online service. This will require smartphone and bank card details. Cash payment is not yet available.
