Obviously, the inhabitants of the Netherlands, who have provided their homes for people who are now leaving Ukraine, bear certain costs. Utilities at least. And the question of whether their costs will be somehow compensated is being discussed in society, government and the media. In addition, there is already an example of the UK, where the owners of housing that accommodates Ukrainian refugees receive 350 pounds (415 euros) per month.
So far there is no final clarity. Moreover, it is not clear how such assistance will be organized: in the form of a grant from the state directly to the Dutch hosting refugees in their homes, or in the form of additional funds that the refugees will receive and give part to the homeowners themselves as payment for utilities. According to the press service of State Secretary Eric van der Burg, Ukrainian refugees who find themselves in the Netherlands can count on benefits: “They can also use this money for living to pay compensation to the host family.” The final decision has not been made, but the Cabinet of Ministers is likely to decide this week on the amount and procedure for payment for Ukrainians who have now arrived in the country.
