Nalog.nl often receives questions regarding residence permits.
For example, this:
- Can you please tell me if I can get a permanent work contract if I have a dependent residence permit for 5 years? Or can the contract be only temporary until I receive my passport? Thank you in advance.
Julia Yurik, HR manager, answers:
- The urgency of the employment contract does not depend on the type of your residence permit. What your contract will be depends on the employer, on how interested he is in your knowledge and skills. Upon expiration of three consecutive fixed-term contracts or after three years of fixed-term / fixed-term contracts, an employee may only be offered a permanent contract.
Please note that you need a work permit. Not all types of residence permits require you to work in the Netherlands. Read your residence permit carefully - information on work permits is on the reverse side. No work permit is required for EU citizens.
The type of residence permit depends on the temporary and non-temporary purposes of the stay. More details here.
If, for example, you come as a partner of an EU citizen, then there will be no problems. First, you will have a residence permit for 5 years, and then you will receive a passport.
