Such conclusions were made by the German insurance company Allianz in the World Wealth Report for 2020. The report contains data for almost 60 countries.
The gross financial wealth per capita in the Netherlands is € 129. The figures are, of course, averaged. The Dutch have become richer on average, but the differences between households are quite large, the researchers note.
Who is ahead of the Netherlands? In the first place, quite expectedly, is the USA with 218 euros per person. Switzerland is in second place (€ 000). Denmark ranks third (212 per person).
Worldwide, the average level of gross financial wealth per capita is 36 euros.
According to Allianz's calculations, the coronavirus crisis has made many people richer. The gross financial assets of private households worldwide reached a record 200 trillion euros, up 9,7% from 2019.
What contributed to this?
The main driver of asset growth was the increase in savings. The pandemic led to unprecedented restrictions - people could not travel as before and spend money in the usual way. For a long time, cafes, restaurants and non-grocery stores were closed. In addition, business in many countries has received tangible support from the state.
