In August 2020, Nalog.nl took custody of a newborn cub of a ring-tailed lemur named Eva. Eva lives with her extended family - parents, siblings - at the Overhand Zoo in the southeastern province of Utrecht.

In the Netherlands, zoos, in addition to entertainment for visitors, are engaged in scientific work on the conservation of rare species of animals. This is a very important mission that aims to preserve genetically healthy species of endangered animals. All zoo dwellers are animals born in captivity or rescued from difficult situations. For example, the Overhand Zoo is home to 12 bears - all rescued from various roaming circuses and private nurseries. Some of them have never walked on real grass before! The zoo provides animals with living conditions as close to natural ones as possible. Returning endangered species to their natural habitat is another goal of zoos' scientific work.

That is why we decided to partner with Overhand Zoo to help maintain and increase animal populations. Ring-tailed lemurs are familiar to both adults and children as funny cartoon characters living in Madagascar. Indeed, real ring lemurs live only in Madagascar and nowhere else in the world! Alas, like many other endangered animals, they have not been able to avoid a serious decline in numbers, and they need our protection.

We believe that our care and financial participation will be those small but important steps in the restoration of the population of the ring-tailed lemur in nature, because Eva will grow up and become a mother herself. Unfortunately, due to covid restrictions, we cannot often visit Eve and delight you with new photos, but we will be happy to share with you photos of Eve from our archive, as well as a film that the zoo staff sent us.

We hope that in the near future the zoos will be open to the public again, and Eva herself will delight both adults and young visitors of the zoo with her funny character and cheerful appearance for many years.
