As we wrote earlier, from July 27, foreign citizens will be able to finally reunite with their soul mates in the Netherlands. Minister Ferd Grapperhaus announced that the travel ban order had provided an exception for couples who had to be separated due to quarantine.

Today, new details have emerged about the conditions and the very process of obtaining an entry permit.

How long can you stay in the Netherlands?

Your stay in the Netherlands must not exceed 90 days within 180 days. Your minor children under 18 have the same rights.

What conditions?

  • Your partner has citizenship of the Netherlands or any other country in the European Economic Area or Switzerland.
  • Your partner lives (registered) in the Netherlands
  • You and your partner have been in a relationship for at least 3 months. You met at least 2 times before the lockdown or 1 time, but for a period of at least 4 weeks. (This will need to be proven.)
  • You have purchased a return ticket for yourself and your minor child (if any) in advance
  • Both of you completed and signed the form "Relatieverklaring vrijstelling inreisverbod COVID-19", available online in Russian on our website, in which you provided information about your relationship. This document will need to attach proof that you are in a relationship and have spent some time together. You can decide for yourself which documents to attach. These can be air tickets, previously issued visas, passport stamps, bank statements showing that you were somewhere together, third-party statements indicating your relationship, such as statements from parents or friends, and, of course, photographs.

Where will the documents be checked?

The check will take place upon arrival at the Netherlands airport. Border control officials will ask you to present:

Will you have to be in quarantine?

Depending on the country, you may be subject to a 14-day quarantine upon arrival in the Netherlands, even if you do not have any symptoms. The list of "red" countries can be viewed on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
