The reporting period for filing declarations for 2019 has ended! Those who managed to submit the tax return can sleep peacefully until next year, while those who have requested an extension will have to work a little more.
Between March 1 and May 1, the Dutch tax office received over 9,3 million tax returns. It is noteworthy that on the last day of the reporting period, administrations received 347 thousand declarations, which is a record. Never before have so many people left their documents to the tax office on the last day!
Due to the coronavirus crisis, many citizens had to request an extension. Those who took advantage of help with filing tax returns received an automatic grace period.
At the same time, there are taxpayers who seemed to be looking forward to the start of the tax period. The first declaration was received already at 00:01 on Sunday, March 1. On weekdays, most of the declarations came around 8 pm. On weekends - at 2 pm. Almost all declarations were received digitally.
Throughout the entire filing period, the tax authorities continued to communicate with citizens not only by phone, but also through social networks. Between March 1 and May 1, the tax service received 594 phone calls and 3000 messages on Twitter and Facebook. Most of the questions from individuals concerned how to correctly show income from other jobs in the tax return, and how to properly deduct mortgage and healthcare costs.

Despite the fact that we had to switch to remote work from home, our IT specialists literally connected and adjusted all the necessary equipment within two days, and all employees were able to quickly adapt to the new work mode. As a result, we have successfully completed the reporting period and are already starting to prepare for the next one.
