On December 13, a notice appeared on the tax office's website that letters dated December 12-27, 2019 contain erroneous calculations of income tax (aanslag inkomstenbelasting) and compulsory social security tax (aanslag Zorgverzekeringswet). The IRS apologizes for the inconvenience caused.
What does this mean?
If you received letters from the tax office in December with recalculations of your income tax or compulsory social tax. insurance for 2016, 2017 or 2018, and these letters were written in the period from 12 to 27 December 2019, then the amounts of recalculations of your taxes indicated in them are WRONG! And, according to the tax authorities, within 2 weeks from the moment the incorrect calculations arrive, you should receive (or have already received) a notification of the error from them. By the way, the date of the letter should be viewed not by the day when you received this letter, but by the date indicated in the upper right corner of the tax notice itself.
What to do with it?
NOTHING! Wait for notification from the tax error. You don't have to pay anything. But we draw your attention once again to the fact that this applies only to letters written by the tax office from 12 to 27 December!
If you have already managed to pay, then the money will be returned to you. And, conversely, if during this period you received a tax refund for the specified years, be prepared for the fact that this money may also have to be returned.
