Hello!
I am interested in the question - how is the capital gains tax paid in the Netherlands, in particular on securities and dividends? I heard somewhere about the rule of 5% of shares in a company, but I didn't quite understand it. I am interested in the situation when the share of shares is less than 5%. I am also interested in the question of whether it is possible to open an investment account in Holland (a bank already exists) and transfer securities from another EU bank to it. Or is it probably better to check with the bank? Thank!
Hello!
If you own less than 5 percent of the shares of companies, then you indicate this as your savings in box 3. Taxation for box 3 is calculated based on the value of the portfolio as of January 1. Therefore, if you made a profit within a year, then it will only play a role if you leave this money in the account. Also, there is a tax-free threshold for box 3: for 2020 it is 30 846 euros per one fiscal partner
For opening an investment account and transferring securities from another EU bank, we recommend that you contact the bank

Thank you! Is the tax calculated on the value of the portfolio or on the profit from the portfolio? (let's say I have a stock bought for $300, and then it became worth $400, is the tax calculated on $400, or on the profit - $100?
And let's say 30 euros - is this a non-taxable threshold for the value of the entire portfolio or income from the portfolio?
