The House of Representatives' decision to raise the minimum wage has left many entrepreneurs disheartened. Things are not going well yet, and higher wages will require higher prices. In particular, Finance Minister Sigrid Kaag and Deputy Prime Minister Karin van Gennip sharply opposed this populist step.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that the deputies will decide, but they need to take a step back and deviate from the decision made. Raising salaries while simultaneously freezing the increase in excise taxes could cause an imbalance in the economy, and the deputies did not propose real sources of additional budget financing.
