The war of Russia in Ukraine continues, it is impossible to predict the date of its end. It is clear that in 2023 Ukraine will need international military and economic assistance. At the suggestion of the Ministers of Foreign Trade - Schreinehamer (Schreinemacher), Foreign Affairs - Hoekstra (Hoekstra), Defense - Ollongren (Ollongren), Finance - Kaag (Kaag), the government decided to reserve 2,5 billion euros to support Ukraine next year. The distribution of these funds by type of assistance and the amount of funds actually allocated to Ukraine will depend on the course of the war and the real needs of Ukrainians.m
By its decision, the Government of the Netherlands confirms its support for Ukraine, which defends not only its freedom, security and prosperity, but also the existing world order, freedom, security and prosperity of the entire democratic world. The Netherlands have said they will support Ukraine for as long as it takes.
The Netherlands provides Ukraine with both humanitarian and financial assistance, as well as military assistance. Deliveries of weapons and equipment are made both from the warehouses of the Dutch army, and under contracts concluded with the military industry. The government sets itself the task of increasing the supply of military equipment to Ukrainians while maintaining and increasing the combat capability of its own armed forces.
It should be understood that these 2,5 billion euros are additional assistance from the Netherlands. Funds for participation in the pan-European program of assistance to Ukraine for 18 billion euros and compensation for material costs for helping Ukrainian refugees in the Netherlands are allocated under other budget items.
