During the negotiations, which lasted more than 14 hours and ended in the morning, the coalition parties and the government agreed on a budget for 2023. However, the details of the agreement remain a mystery.

First, the leaders of the coalition parties VVD, D66, CDA and ChristenUnie gathered for a meeting at the Ministry of Finance. They were later joined by Prime Minister Rutte, Minister Kaag, Deputy Prime Minister Schouten and Secretary of State for Finance Van Rij. The meeting dragged on until 05.30 am.

The main issue during the negotiations was the purchasing power of the population, which was heavily affected by inflation. The participants of the meeting say that they managed to develop a good budget, which will soften the economic blow to households. However, the budget parameters remain a mystery. According to the existing tradition, the budget will be presented on Prince's Day - September 20. Find out more about this holiday from our article!
