Dutch Health Minister Ernst Kuipers has said the country is expecting a new round of coronavirus vaccines in the fall. First of all, healthcare workers, people at particular risk of infection, and those for whom the disease is most dangerous will receive an invitation to be vaccinated. Other residents of the country will also be able to sign up for vaccination.

In a letter to Parliament, Kuipers reports that previous rounds of vaccinations have played an important role in saving the lives and health of the Dutch. Nevertheless, vaccination should be continued to preserve the health of the population and save new lives. A new wave of coronavirus is expected in the fall. Mass vaccination will prevent the overload of social services and medical institutions, respectively, will keep them accessible to all who need help. The government plans to produce 300 vaccines per week, with a further increase to 000 million vaccines per week.

Who will receive an invitation to be vaccinated?

From the second half of September, invitations for vaccination will be received by people who are at particular risk to life and health when infected with coronavirus. At the same time, medical personnel will be vaccinated. The government plans to provide vaccines to the entire population of the country aged 12 years and over.

Vaccination problems

Mass vaccination requires a wide involvement of new qualified personnel. This raises certain difficulties. Therefore, Minister Kuipers ordered to prepare for a mass vaccination campaign, despite the fact that the official decision on its implementation has not yet been made.
