Ukrainians can stay in the Netherlands after the visa expires
Ukrainian citizens will not have to leave the Netherlands if their 90-day stay has expired, Secretary of State Eric van der Burgh said.
“Ukrainians are allowed to travel freely, just as you and I are allowed to travel in Europe,” the Secretary of State said.
With a biometric passport, Ukrainians can travel without a visa within the Schengen area. You can apply for a visa without it. In both cases, they are officially allowed to stay in the Schengen countries for only 90 days. But now, after the 90-day period has expired, the Netherlands will extend their stay.
The Secretary of State also added: refugees from Ukraine who are now coming to the Netherlands are not considered as asylum seekers. They can stay here with friends and family or, for example, in a hotel.
“But if they tell us, ‘Help us,’ then we will offer them housing,” Van der Burgh said.
At the moment everything is crowded, but this issue is being dealt with. It is not yet clear how many refugees the country will be able to take.
