Public holidays in the Netherlands in 2020:

- 10 April 2020: Good Friday
- April 12-13, 2020: Easter
- April 27, 2020: King's Day
- May 5, 2020: Liberation Day
- May 21, 2020: Ascension Day
- May 31 – June 1, 2020: Pentecost
- December 25 – 26, 2020: Christmas
Other interesting national events
While these dates are not official holidays, they are certainly equally important.
- March 29: Daylight saving time changes - clocks will be moved forward one hour
- April 1st: April Fool's Day
- May 4: National Day of Remembrance
- May 10: Mother's Day (very important!)
- June 21: Fathers Day (equally important!)
- October 25: Daylight Saving Time ends - clocks go back an hour
- December 5: Sinterklaas
School holidays in the Netherlands
The information applies to primary, secondary and special schools, other schools set their own dates.
When it comes to school holidays in the Netherlands, it is important to remember that most periods are divided into three regions (north, center and south). This is done so that the whole country does not go on vacation in the same week. This should be taken into account when planning trips and travels. It is also worth checking if the dates for the primary and secondary school vacations are the same.
Christmas holidays 2020–2021
- All regions: December 19, 2020 – January 3, 2021
Spring break 2020
- South and Center: February 22 – March 1, 2020
- North: February 15 – February 23, 2020
May holidays 2020
- All regions: from April 25 to May 3, 2020.
Autumn holidays 2020
- South and Center: October 17-25, 2020
- North: October 10-18, 2020
This vacation can be extended by a week - it is better to check with the local school in advance.
Summer holidays 2020
- South: July 11 – August 23, 2020
- Center: July 18 – August 30, 2020
- North: July 4 – August 16, 2020
