This is the fact that everyone in the Netherlands faces: the low VAT rate increases from 6 to 9 percent. This rate applies to a number of goods: food and drink in shops and restaurants, tap water, flowers and plants, medicines and medical devices, books, magazines and newspapers and products for farmers, such as cattle feed and seeds.
It also applies for many services: hotel stays and camping, visit to circuses, zoos, sports competitions, amusement parks, museums, theaters, concerts, festivals, fairs, cinemas, sports, swimming pools, saunas, public transport, taxis, bicycle repair, shoe and clothing repair, hairdressers and so on.
All this will be 2.8 percent more expensive, if sellers pass the VAT increase at least precisely.
