Still thinking about starting your own business?
Now is the perfect time for this!
We conducted an analysis and came to the conclusion that launching a business in May would be especially profitable. Why do we think this? Check out our calculations!
The main reason is the hour criterion. If you register a business at the beginning of the year, for example, in May, you will still have the opportunity to meet the hourly criterion, that is, spend 1225 hours on business.
How do we calculate this? We assume that you spend 8 hours on your business every working day for the remaining 7 months.
Why is the hour criterion needed?
Fulfilling the hourly criterion (Urencriterium, 1225 hours per year) is extremely important to obtain two business deductions:
- Self-employment tax deduction - zelfstandigenaftrek (in 2024 it is 3750 euros per year),
- The starting deduction is startersaftrek (in 2024 it is 2123 euros; can be used three times during the first five years of entrepreneurship).
In total, your tax base will decrease by 5873 euros!
So, it’s decided, we’ll open in May! But where to start?
We've put together a helpful checklist of questions you need to think about before starting your own business.
